Best Buy to sell Dell Inspiron

Consumer beware, computer giant Dell and retail giant Best Buy are about to go through with a deal that will make select Inspiron laptops and desktops as well as XPS computers available at most Best Buy locations.

According to Business Wire, initial offerings are to include the XPS M1330 laptop in white color only, the Inspiron 1521 (AMD based) in blue and black and the Inspiron 1420 in black. Also to be available is Dell’s all-in-one “XPS One” desktop.

Inspiron Desktop models are to include the 530/531 models.

Michael Tatelman, vice president of sales and marketing for Dell said, “In the next few weeks, people looking to upgrade to a Dell notebook or desktop in the U.S. can visit their local Best Buy to check out and purchase our award-winning line of products.”

A vice president for Best Buy said that his company is proud to add Dell computers to its retail inventory. The Dell computers will be available online from Bestbuy.com or in most stores.

Specifications of the laptops will no doubt vary and may come in one or two configurations but it’s nothing like you will be able to do if you were to order directly from Dell. One could hope that the laptops will come with the higher resolution screens and discrete graphics but knowing Best Buy and how it likes to sell “the lowest common denominator” will probably sell models with standard displays and integrated graphics but we’ll have to just wait and see what develops.
