Getting new laptop from dell

I am purchasing a Laptop for the first time. It is comeing with a DVD/CDRW drive internally. Anyone have any idea what the drive is capable of etc? Inspiron 8200 P4 2.0Ghz 512 megs ram DVD/CDRW

DVD/CDRW Burner

But they could not tell me what company even made the drive. just wondering if I'll be able to burn programs with it or have to use the home pc.

Also I'm sure I'll have to use the feature to block windows so it doesn't see it is a CDRW drive for my burned programs even though it is also a DVD drive? any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.
